Rob Wittman Refreshed His Portfolio with Mutual Fund Trades
Rob Wittman, is a Republican politician who has been serving as the US Representative for Virginia's 1st congressional district since 2007. On February 15, 2023, as per house stock watches, Mr. Wittman disclosed several trades he made throughout January: mostly mutual fund buys and sells, but also two small stock sales.
Mr. Wittman sold between $1,000 to $15,000 of Baxter International Inc (BAX:US), Elevance Health Inc (ELV:US), and iShares MSCI USA Min Vol Factor ETF (USMV:US). He also made three larger sales in the value range of $15,000 - $50,000 of the Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF (BND:US), the Vanguard Total International Bond ETF (BNDX:US), and the VIRTUS Vontobel Foreign Opportunities Fund (JVIAX:US).
Mr. Wittman also raised his holdings; the list included $15,000 - $50,000 worth of the AB Global Bond Fund Inc (ANAGX:US). Two purchases, one in the range of $1,000 - $15,000 and one of $15,000 - $50,000 of Harding Loevner International Equity Portfolio (HLMIX:US). Lastly, one purchase of $15,000 - $50,000 of Metropolitan West Total Return Bond Fund (MWTIX:US).
From these trades, it looks like Rep. Wittman has moved on from more passive fixed-income holdings like the ones from Vanguard and moved on to more active trading funds, like the MWTIX. At the same time, he switched up some of his low volatility style holdings in favor of international equities in HLMIX. As of now, that switch into international equities at the beginning of the year looks to be an astute trade, as the position is up 7.50% year-to-date already.
Rob Wittman was born in 1959 in Washington D.C. and has a background in public and military service. Before entering politics, he served in the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia Senate. In Congress, Wittman has focused on issues such as national defense, environmental conservation, and improving access to healthcare. He has also been a strong supporter of expanding broadband access in rural areas and has sponsored legislation to improve internet connectivity in underserved communities. Wittman is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Natural Resources.
